Easter Hat Parade

Pink easter hat decorated with a white bunny

The Easter hat parade will be held on Thursday 28 March 2024 in the school COLA area. The parade will commence at 9:15am and conclude at 10:15am. It will be a whole school event and all parents and carers are welcome to attend.

In preparation for this parade, all K-4 students will need to bring in a hat along with a small number of items to decorate the hat. The students will construct and decorate their hats at school, with the assistance of their teacher and their classmates.

If your child is in Years 5 & 6, they are not required to bring in anything from home as they will be using classroom resources to make a hat.

Discount shops have a variety of basic hats like cowboy hats, sombreros, straw hats and sparkle hats that are easy to decorate. These shops also stock lots of decorations; however, we do encourage creative recycling of items no longer used at home. This can include old hats, cards, ribbons, old stickers, packaging and wrapping. The school will supply glue, sticky tape and coloured markers.

The main objective of hat making at school is for students to work with others to explore their creativity and create their own unique hat. Resources for K-4 students will need to be put in a labelled bag and sent in with your child by no later than Friday 22 March 2024.

On the day, K-2 classes will parade first, followed by an Easter dance performance by Kindergarten. Next, students in Stage 2 and 3 who have made a hat will also have the opportunity to parade. We will also be drawing the Year 6 Easter Raffle at the conclusion of the event.

If there is heavy rain on the day, the parade will be postponed. An announcement will be made via the Parent Portal, Woonona Public School social media pages and Seesaw.

We thank you in advance for your support in making our Easter hat parade a wonderful event.

We look forward to a fun and exciting parade and hope to see you there.
