Year 6 invites Woonona PS students to join them for a school disco. On Wednesday 20 November, students are invited to come dressed ready to dance the afternoon away. Students will be supervised by Woonona PS staff at all times. To allow for optimal fun and safety, K-2 and 3-6 will have separate discos. Kinder to Year 2: 4:00pm to 5:15pm Years 3 to 6: 5:30pm to 6:45pm Disco entry fee: $5.00 Disco party pack: $5.00 (pack includes a glow stick, lollies & chips. Popcorn will be available for gluten free students) Students will need to be signed in to enter. Sign in tables will be under the COLA. Please note access to the hall, and areas in front of the hall, are restricted to Woonona PS staff and students only. We ask for families and parents to please keep those spaces free. K-2 collection point: Kinder – Year 1 synthetic grass / Year 2 basketball court. 3-6 collection point: Stage 2 eastern end of the COLA / Stage 3 western end of the COLA. Please note at the end of each disco, students will be walked in classes to their collection areas. Class teachers will call out a student's name to ensure they have a parent ready to collect them. If a child is being collected by someone other than their parent, please ensure this is with the child in writing. We are asking our community to prepay for the entry cost and a party pack through School Bytes. On your Statement of Account please select “Add Other Item”, then “Disco entry fee” and “Disco party pack” Students are asked to bring along their water bottle and the bubblers will also be available. On Thursday 5 December, Year 6 will be attending Jamberoo Action Park as their end of year excursion and fun day. Transport will be by bus, with students departing school at 8:45am and returning at approximately 4:00pm. Please ensure your child is at school no later than 8:30am. The cost of this excursion is $40.00. This has been subsidised $23.00 by the Year 6 fundraising activities. Students need to bring the following items. Please ensure all items are clearly labelled with their name. Recess and lunch or money to purchase food at the venue. Water/drink bottle Hat and sunscreen Swimmers and rash vests (students are required to wear a shirt all day, including when on rides and in pools) Towel Plastic bag for wet swimming gear Enclosed shoes to be worn to and from the park. Students may pack thongs or sandals in their bag for when they are at Jamberoo Year 6 shirt to be worn to and from the park Dry clothes to wear on the bus home This excursion will involve the following unstructured aquatic activities: Riding on water slides Free swimming in a wave pool and other pools Jumping from platforms into deep water See website for further details https://www.jamberoo.net. Please indicate on the attached note whether your child is permitted to go into deep water above waist height. Students nominated by their parent/caregiver on this form as not permitted to go into deep water, will not be allowed in deep pools or rides which have pools at the end eg: Funnel Web, Taipan, Perfect Storm, water slides. Children will be issued with a blue wrist band allowing them to participate in deep water unstructured activities or a yellow wrist band allowing them to participate in shallow water (waist deep) activities. This will be monitored by teachers and lifeguards throughout the day. Any student who is not permitted to go in the water or is not able to walk safely in the water with balance and stability will not take part in any water activities. Please return signed permission notes and payments (cash or online) by Friday 29 November 2024. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s classroom teacher. Early Stage 1 and Stage 1 are thrilled to announce their upcoming Christmas showcase! This term, our students have been exploring musical concepts as part of our learning in creative arts. We invite you to join us and witness our exciting performances, celebrating the year and ending it with a bang! If there are any outfit requirements, your child’s classroom teacher will post the information on Seesaw. Event Details: Date: Wednesday 11 December 2024 Time: 9:30am - 11:00am Location: School Hall We would love to see you at this event. We are excited to invite you to attend the Year 6 Graduation Assembly on Monday 16 December. The event is being held in the Woonona Public School Hall. All Year 6 students will be attending and recognised at the event. The Year 5 students will also be attending to celebrate their classmates' graduation. When: Monday 16 December Start Time: 9:15am Where: Woonona Public School Hall During the Graduation, we will also be presenting the Year 6 awards that are specific to Year 6. These awards recognise students who have achieved academic success across each of the KLAs, citizenship and leadership. Students are to arrive at school in full school uniform, wearing their Year 6 shirt. We ask that parents and carers attending please be seated and ready for the 9:15am start. Please note numbers are capped at a maximum of two guests per Year 6 student. Another point to note is that in the original communication at the beginning of the year, we invited you to join the Farewell Tunnel on Thursday 19 December but the final school day for students is now Wednesday 18 December. We will be holding the arch on the Wednesday, and you are welcome to come along at 2:45pm to join the end of the Farewell Tunnel.
